Reverend Angela V. Wells started her ministry at UCC Burlington in December 2012. This is her first called position, as she graduated from Union Theological Seminary in New York City in May 2012. Angela is from Florida, where she served as a sabbatical supply pastor at two different congregations, in the summers of 2011 and 2012. Angela has a passion for pastoral care, empowering lay leadership, intergenerational relationships, justice work through the church, as well as challenging every stereotype about Christianity and clergy. Angela really values radical inclusivity. She believes that everyone should be able to walk through our church doors, shed all pretenses, and be welcomed and loved exactly as they are. We are called to love each other just as God first loved us. Angela works to blend tradition (our church was built in 1732!) with new and creative ways of worshipping God and living into our identity as Christians in this complex and ever-changing 21st century. She is on the Board of Directors for Burlington’s non-profit social services organization, People Helping People. She was also accepted to the nationwide young clergy group sponsored by the Pension Boards of the United Church of Christ entitled Next Generation Leadership Initiative (NGLI: 2030). Angela also loves talking with people and hearing their stories. She always has an open door, so feel free to stop by her office or send her an email if you’d like to chat. You can also follow her on Twitter @RevAngelaWells. In her spare time, Angela likes to hang out with her husband Martin and go hiking or running with their dog Stella
